Reading the site

You can read the guides without creating an account. Technical information such as an IP address, requested page and browser information may be processed by the service delivering the website to operate it and protect it from abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure visits and improve our content. It uses cookies and information about pages, referrals, devices, browsers and approximate location. In Brazil, restricted statistical measurement relies on legitimate interest. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics starts only after your permission. In other identified countries, measurement starts on arrival with an opt-out. If we cannot identify the country, Google Analytics stays off until you allow it in your preferences. Your saved refusal is respected in every region. Cloudflare also provides performance and audience measurement through its infrastructure, according to the domain configuration, without Google Analytics cookies. This measurement is independent of the Google Analytics preference. You can turn measurement off or allow it using the footer. Advertising signals and personalisation are disabled; tool answers and typed text are not sent as events.

Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to change your selection. A new choice applies to future analytics activity in this browser; it does not undo information already processed. Read the provider’s privacy policy for more information.

Browser storage

The site stores your analytics choice in local browser storage. When measurement is active, the provider may set analytics cookies. Browser controls can remove stored data, which may also remove your saved preference. Advertising personalisation is not enabled by this site’s analytics configuration.

Search and the plan builder

Guide search runs in your browser. Search terms are not added to the page address or deliberately sent as analytics events. Plan answers stay in the page while it is open and are not submitted to HowToStop or included in analytics. They are not automatically saved by the planner.

If you download or print a plan, the resulting file or printout is under your control. Your device, browser, extensions or print service may have their own storage practices. Be careful when using shared devices.

Email and contact messages

If you email us, your address, message and any attachments are processed to handle the enquiry. Email service providers process messages as part of delivery and storage. Share only the information needed for the question; avoid medical records and other sensitive details.

Contact messages may be used to respond, maintain appropriate records, protect the site and meet applicable obligations.

Links to other services

Source links and support resources take you to third-party websites with their own privacy practices. Their inclusion does not mean your planner answers or search terms are sent to them by HowToStop. Opening a link allows that destination to receive the information ordinarily involved in a website visit.

Privacy rights

Applicable privacy laws may provide rights over personal information. The rights, exceptions and procedures that apply depend on the location and circumstances.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site’s relevant data practices change. The current version will appear on this page.
